Job Title: Animal Assistant
Department: Animal Care
Reporting to: Jo Hodgson
Work Pattern: Flexible shifts to include weekends and bank holidays.
Salary: Minimum Wage, paid weekly dependent upon age and experience.
Role Summary:
Working within the Animal care team you will be looking after the animals on a daily basis ensuring they are all cared for and checked. A high standard of hygiene and tidiness is expected throughout the premises and able to work alone when required, although you will mainly be working as part of a small team. This is a busy role and some flexibility and a positive attitude is expected of you. This is a physical position and some lifting and carrying is involved.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Mucking out cages
- Feeding
- Changing waters on a daily basis
- Sweeping and cleaning of each room and outside areas
- General health checks and reporting any issues to your line manager
- Administering medication and treatment under the guidance of the line manager
- Making up new cages
- Moving/rearranging cages
- Other ad-hoc duties as and when required
